It's almost that time of the year when eating your body weight in chocolate is acceptable.

No, not Easter - Valentine's Day! To celebrate the season of love, we've rounded up our all-time favourite romantic movies. Snuggle up in bed with your significant other (or significant cat?) and surrender to pure romance. Just have a box of Kleenex at the ready.

The Big Sick

Ciarán, Head of Hiive: 'First up it's a true story, and who doesn’t love a true story. A nice post movie Wikipedia binge always satisfies. Not only is this a true story but the main character of the true story actually stars in the film itself. The reason I loved it so much, is it doesn’t play out like every romcom you’ve ever seen where you can call it after the first scene. You’re genuinely surprised at where The Big Sick goes and the characters pull on all sorts of heartstrings. It is laced with surprise, humour and emotion and definitely a winner for me for anyone thinking up of cosying up on the couch this Valentine’s Day.'

Mushy quote: 'Your driver will be ready as soon as he puts on his pants.'

Best moment: Kumail, driven to edge by Emily being in a coma and being rejected by both families, vents all his frustrations at a poor fast food worker.

Crocodile Dundee

Daniel, Executive Producer: 'Crocodile Dundee is my choice, it’s a fun fish-out-of-water, adventure movie, but at its core, it’s a love story… Two people from very different backgrounds overcome their cultural differences and make love in a crocodile-infested swamp, think that’s what happened. The final act is an absolute classic, funny and emotional, not a dry eye in the house. It’s also a great educational piece on Australian people.'

Editor's note: As a person from Australia I'd like to distance myself from this comment (we also say prawn, not shrimp, okay?).

Mushy quote: 'I was sorta married once - nice girl, good cook, biiig chest. Then I went walkabout, and when I came back, she’d gone.'

Best moment: Crocodile Dundee protects his sheila from getting mugged... and we know the rest.

About Time

Rochelle, Business Support Assistant: “I love the British humour. It takes a spin on “traditional” love stories as we see how a young man uses his time-travelling powers to capture the heart of someone. However, it is not straightforward as he hopes as the takes various twists and turns. The film stars Domhnall Gleeson, Rachel McAdams and the incomparable Bill Nighy. It’s great quirky film for a romantic quirky night.”

Mushy quote: 'We're all travelling through time, together, everyday of our lives.'

Best moment: The wedding scene. No comments, just watch it!

Your name (Kimi no Na wa)

Laurie, Content Co-ordinator: 'Your name (Kimi no Na wa) pulled on my heartstrings and captured my imagination from the get-go. It's a great (body-swap) love story that transcends time and space and draws you in, unlike any other film I've ever seen. You're taken on a journey through Taki and Mitsuha's blossoming love who, even though they've never met, form a close bond through their adventures and misadventures swapped in each other bodies.'

Mushy quote: 'Treasure the experience. Dreams fade away after you wake up.'

Best moment: Taki embracing his newly acquired womanly attributes... And needless to say – the animation is just mind-blowing!

Rachel, Content Co-ordinator: 'It was a close call between Pride & Prejudice and Gone With The Wind, but nobody does romance like Bollywood. Devdas and Paro seriously outdo Romeo and Juliet in the star-crossed lovers' department. Get ready for a whirlwind of colour, song and very intense emotions. It also features icons Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai at the top of their game.'

Mushy quote: 'Whose is this movement that grabs my attention, whose shadow is this? There is a knock on the door of my heart, who has come?'

Best moment: There are so many, but the scene where Paro dances with an oil lamp as a symbol of her undying love for Devdas is a great introduction to the movie.
