Meet The Playwright: Samuel Bailey Old Vic 12
Published on 3rd August 2016
We sat down with Samuel Bailey, one of the winning playwrights from The Old Vic 12 2015, to hear all about his experiences on The Old Vic 12 as a playwright and the process he went through when writing his play, Prince of The River.
Samuel has gained a lot from the scheme not least an agent but has learnt to work in a more collaborative process and have his work scrutinised in a much more intense way.
Samuel reckons the creative freedom the Old Vic 12 offers is a huge plus in developing your work as their attitude of 'What do you want to make' allowed him to write a play that he would never been able to write before.
The Old Vic 12 is open for submissions from August 1st until August 30th. The Old Vic 12 are looking for emerging artists that are looking to make a name for themselves in the theatre industry. They will be recruiting three playwrights, three directors, three producers, one composer, one movement director and one designer.
