We caught up with Stephen to discuss his passion for illustration. Read his story and his latest project here.

Can you introduce yourself and your creative work/interests?

Hi i’m Stephen Smith (I work under the name of Neasden Control Centre). I guess i’m known for my hand drawn illustration & lettering but have a diverse skillset as also work as an art director, designer. I work across sectors from advertising to publishing to animation on mixed media projects as well as installations and murals. I also exhibit my paintings and artworks at galleries such as Mini Gallerie in Amsterdam who are presenting my work at Code Art Fair in Copenhagen this week and have a 2 man show together with Jeroen Erosie at Gallery M13 Celal in Paris.

What are you currently working on?

Currently I’m working on a large illustrated mural commission for a children’s hospital ward in Oxford. Design and illustration for a Japanese client and a book project launching next year. I’m also collaborating with City Edition Studio in Bristol on a label design and packaging for a Cornish drinks company. Next weekend i will be dj’ing and exhibiting an illustrated installation at Bestival in the woods together with Flat-e Studio.
