Description

This course will be delivered over 2 days and will be a mix of hands-on practice, presentations and discussion and delivered in partnership with equipment manufacturers/providers.

Students will be taught how to set up the necessary systems to ensure the data is secure, correctly managed and sent to onward processes such as insurance back ups, Digital Dailys post processes etc. They will learn how to make on set visualisations while protecting camera data and using metadata to transfer local "look" decisions to post. The DIT will learn how the various technologies interact and be able to advise the DOP and Cinematographer the best approach and equipment to use for a particular shot. The legacy will be well grounded competent DIT's to keep the UK at the forefront of movie production.

We aim to make these training days as interactive as possible throughout and will use a variety of training methods to make the course dynamic and inspiring. All the trainers have many years of experience in the industry that can be used to highlight training points during the workshops.

This training is designed to remove some of the barriers that prevent professionals from developing their skills and furthering their careers in this specific part of the industry. In particular it addresses issues in relatively new areas of processing for digital cameras, post-production and data management.

This Digital Imaging Technician training is a workshop to learn how to find, keep track and identify of all the elements used in production when moving to an all digital workflow. During the workshop session topics covered include camera imager formats, Bayer or stripe, colour separation, true resolution, Gamma law or Log law processing, compression, its types and pitfalls, recording systems, file formats, storage operating systems and logistics. It is essential to cover these subjects to give the DIT a strong foundation of knowledge to improve the quality of the associated metadata.
