Hi! I'm Alex.

South African/German, raised in the jungles of Johannesburg, now residing in the decidedly more concrete jungles of London- armed with a Wacom pen and fiery passion for stories*.

I read them, I write them, I draw them. I live them.

*especially ones about cats.

I have spent the last 5 years trotting around the globe, settling in 4 different countries, driven by an insatiable love for animation; learning all I can about those 24 frames (25 if you're going to be fancy). I have been influenced by an extensive collection of great minds and perspectives, cultures and languages (I speak 4), which I look at as a total asset to my work. ('Child of Africa' and all that)

Most recently, I have just completed the acclaimed Frank Gladstone Storyboarding programme held at the Lupus Studios in London.
I am unbelievably proud to have graduated from a Character Animation course held at the incredible Aardman Animation Studios in Bristol last year, which is what pushed me to do get into storyboarding.
(New York University, CGMA are amidst the rest of my qualifications)

Literature is my other passion in life and I'm an avid reader and writer. I love scriptwriting and in 2011, I won an international story competition for an animation treatment I had written. The company hosting the competition, "Marza Animation Planet" is in the process of making the idea into a feature-length film in Japan.

I have worked at Karrot Animation in London (Sarah & Duck) where I primarily worked as an animator in the commercials department. I animate in both Maya and AfterEffects (2D).

The dream?
To become a highly esteemed, technically strong story artist in a highly creative, innovative environment. To never stop pushing myself, my ability & the limitations of “story.”

To write, to draw and to never stop loving what I do.
