Nominated for a New British Music Theatre award in 2016 for her work in new opera, Anna has become known for her bold directing style, "fierily original" writing and as a curator of innovative, site-specific, music theatre events.


THEATRE/OPERA


As a director, recent work includes Dust Child (English Touring Opera), Snappy Operas (Mahogany Opera Group), Trident Moon (Finborough Theatre) and Il Parnaso Confuso (Wilton's Music Hall). A regular artistic collaborator with Southwark Cathedral between 2012-2014, Anna helped forge a number of unique projects including the opening ceremony of the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at Shakespeare's Globe and a site-specific, cross-cultural concerts for the Buta Festival of Azerbaijani Arts.
Anna is Artistic Director of workshOPERA, a company of operatic adventurers commissioning new opera for site-specific and interactive settings. Directing for workshOPERA includes Seven Velvet Suits (BasicSpace Festival), East o' the Sun, West o' the Moon (Tete a Tete Festival), critically-acclaimed Boys of Paradise (Tete a Tete/EGG LDN) and most recently, Sound Tracks: 9 new operas created in collaboration with the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the London Transport Museum.
Anna has worked as an assistant/staff director for companies including Welsh National Opera, Scottish Opera, Opera North, British Youth Opera, National Youth Music Theatre and London Symphony Orchestra alongside directors and conductors such as Annabel Arden, Kasper Holten and Sir Simon Rattle. As a workshop leader and facilitator, she has lead and assisted on a number of projects for English Touring Opera, Barbican Creative Learning, Clonter Opera and LSO Discovery. She is also a founding member of touring theatre company, Wind Up Penguin, creating and delivering new music theatre shows and creative workshops for underprivileged children both in the UK and abroad in countries including Romania, Colombia, India and Lebanon.


MUSIC

Anna studied composition at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She won the Edmund Rubbra Prize in 2015 and her pieces been workshopped by world-renowned artists such as vocal ensemble EXAUDI and the Aurora Orchestra. She has also created work for Oxford's Ashmolean Museum, Southwark Cathedral and a number of productions for the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Her musical theatre work "Anything But Normal," commissioned by the acclaimed Spirit Young Performers' Company has had almost 500,000 views on YouTube to date.
As a singer, Anna is a member of classical chart-topping vocal ensemble, The Mediaeval Baebes. Creating original music in a variety of ancient languages from Latin to Middle English to Medieval Spanish, the group have recently been nominated for 2 Emmy awards for the sound track of ITV's hit period drama, Victoria.
