Simon Ryninks is a freelance filmmaker and theatre director from North London.

Simon's theatre work has been programmed by the Turner Contemporary, National Portrait Gallery, Create Festival and Somerset House, he has repeatedly received Arts Council funding and has been shortlisted for the Oxford Samuel Beckett Award. He has assistant directed productions at the Old Vic, Hampstead Theatre and National Theatre Studio. In 2014, he directed a series of monologues by new writers at the Old Vic.

His theatre work has been described as “Radical” (i-D Magazine), “Well worth checking out” (The Guardian), and as “Surreal, enchanting and thought provoking theatre” (A Younger Theatre).

Additionally, he has directed music videos for the UK’s biggest labels including Polydor and Transgressive, he's directed for the BBC, and as an independent he's made two short films, The Elevator Pitch and Red Onions, both of which were named Finalists at 2014's Sundance London Short Film Competition.

In 2014 he was nominated for the IMdB New Filmmaker Award. As well as being officially selected for festivals around the world, The Elevator Pitch was the opening film of the London Short Film Festival and it received a Vimeo Staff Pick, quickly gaining over 80,000 views. His upcoming short film, The Block, was funded by The IdeasTap Shorts Fund.

In 2015, Simon established The Milo Wladek Co. which makes films, creates theatre, and combines both, allowing audiences to experience stories in new and exciting ways.
