Helen is an award winning writer and director with a BA in Film and Television Production, and an MA in Screenwriting from the National Film School, IADT. Since graduating in 2012 her short film, “An Cat,” funded by Irish broadcaster TG4 has been well received and is currently screening at festivals both in Ireland and internationally (most recently winning Best Irish Language Film at the Fingal Film Festival ), while her second short, “The Drive,” won the Feminist Film Festival in October 2015. She received the Sean Dunne Young Writer’s award for her short children’s film “The Debt,” which also received the 2014 Film Offaly Award, and her fourth short film “Din” was the winner of the 2014 Dun Laoghaire Emerging filmmaker commission. In January 2016 her new film "Away with the Fairies," was awarded the Short Grass Films Comission and will go into production with award winning Irish production company Treasure Entertainment. In addition to writing and directing Helen currently works in development with Tile Films, one of Ireland’s leading documentary production companies. Helen also regularly facilitates and tutors children and young adults in creative writing with Fighting Words. Helen is committed to learning and developing as a writer and director.
