About

Latest: The first 50 participants are now up and running in the project - we are now recruiting the next wave!

Northumbria University is running a research project to improve understanding of the kinds of working conditions and experiences encountered by workers in the film and TV industries in the UK, especially relating to unpaid or low paid work in the earliest stages of their careers. It also aims to identify the kind of education or training that best prepares new workers to succeed in those conditions.

Share your entry-level employment experiences, sign up for our two-year tracking project, or be notified when our findings are released.

The generalised findings will be shared with industry bodies and publications, will be submitted for publication in academic journals, will be included in a PhD thesis, and will contribute to future policy development and fairer employment in the film and TV industries. It will also be used by universities and other education providers to make sure that their courses help to prepare students for these conditions.
