I am a freelance theatre director and production dramaturg from the Scottish Borders, alongside working as the director of COMMON, an arts organisation which exists to support the UK theatre industry in achieving greater socio-economic diversity and help artists from working-class backgrounds build sustainable careers in theatre: www.commontheatre.co.uk

I recently directed the first professional UK revival of Abi Morgan's 'Tiny Dynamite' at The Old Red Lion Theatre from Jan - Feb 2017. Abi Morgan's other stage and screen work includes 'Splendour' (Donmar Warehouse, 2015), 'The Mistress Contract' (Royal Court Theatre, 2014) and 'Lovesong' (Frantic Assembly - Lyric Hammersmith, 2012).

I was Trainee Director to Rupert Goold (Artistic Director - Almeida Theatre) on his 2015 production of 'Medea'.

I am actively working to bring an international approach to dramaturgy to the UK, which focuses on a practical collaboration with directors and theatre-makers in the development of new and existing work.

I regularly run workshops with The Young Vic Theatre to support the career development of dramaturgs. I most recently facilitated a series of workshops exploring the role of dramaturgy in British theatre, where I was joined by esteemed artists including Lyndsey Turner, Bryony Kimmings and Stewart Pringle, who shared their own experiences of working dramaturgically in the development of their work.

I have worked with many arts organisations in a dramaturgical capacity, including The Young Vic and Orange Tree Theatre. I also gained an intricate understanding of international dramaturgy whilst working with Nils Haarmann (Dramaturge - Shaubuhne, Berlin) on a new production directed by Katie Mitchell in 2016 entitled 'Shadows: Eurydice Speaks'.

I have worked in various other capacities for organisations including the Almeida Theatre, Paines Plough, London International Festival of Theatre (LIFT) and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.
