Paul Blinkhorn is a director of theatre, short film and audio drama.

He graduated from Edge Hill University with a BA (Hons) in Drama and English before gaining an Arts and Humanities Research grant to study for an MA in Theatre Directing at East 15.

He is a member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab, New York and the Artistic Director of Northern Outlet Theatre Company.

As writer-director his award-winning short films 'After Auschwitz' and 'Duty Calls' have been screened at festivals in Albania, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Romania and the USA.

His radio production of Canadian playwright Collin Doyle's 'The Mighty Carlins' featured veteran actor Shane Rimmer and was selected to feature as part of the HEAR Now: The Audio Fiction and Arts Festival Festival 2014, Kansas USA and the UK Radio Drama Festival 2015. The complete recording of which has been included in his Hiive portfolio.

In addition to working nurturing new writing for the theatre he has directed UK premieres by Tony and Academy Award nominated writer Murray Schisgal.

In 2016 he was shortlisted for the Genesis Future Directors Award at the Young Vic and longlisted for the Old Vic 12. In the same year he also directed 'Sugared Armour' by Anita Pandolfo, BAFTA winning writer and co-creator of television's 'The Cops' as part of JB Shorts 14.

From December 2015 to February 2016 he was assistant director to David Thacker on his productions of Jim Cartwright's 'Two' and 'Two 2' (World Premiere) at the Octagon Theatre Bolton.

Current:

Paul is currently developing REFUGE, an international project with fellow writer-director Amy Jephta in Cape Town with the support of the British Council.

He is also in post-production of the short film 'Fellaz' by writer Alexandra Keelan with Ultimatum Films.

His award-winning short film 'After Auschwitz' is also currently doing the rounds at film festivals internationally.
